POLK COUNTY, Fla. – A woman who was walking across Interstate 4 in Polk County early Saturday was fatally struck by two vehicles, the second of which didn’t stay behind, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crashes occurred around 12:40 a.m. near the 43 milepost, troopers said.
According to a statement from FHP, the pedestrian — identified as a 35-year-old Winter Haven woman — entered the path of and was struck by a Toyota Corolla that was being driven eastbound by a 27-year-old Oregon man.
Following that impact, the woman was then struck by another vehicle, according to the statement. The second, unknown vehicle continued traveling eastbound without stopping, troopers said.
No further details were immediately available.
