A weather warning for heavy rain has been issued, with parts of south-west England and Wales potentially seeing more than half a month's rainfall.
The forecast predicts wet and blustery conditions over the weekend and into Tuesday.
The Met Office has put out a yellow weather alert for an area stretching from the Isles of Scilly up to Gloucester, and westwards to St David's in Pembrokeshire.
From 6pm on Monday for a 24-hour period, bouts of rain are expected to become steady and intense, according to the forecaster. Some areas could see up to 40mm of rain, while Dartmoor and high ground in south Wales could receive between 60-80mm.
This could equate to over half the average December rainfall.
