The Last Dance , Hong Kong ’s entry for the Best International Oscar race, hasn’t only been a hit with local critics. The film has also drummed up unprecedented business at the box office.

Released in November 2024, the film is now the highest-grossing local title at the Hong Kong box office – grossing more than $20M (HK$161M) upon its release.

Directed by Chan Mou Yin Anselm , the film follows a debt-ridden wedding planner who finds unexpected success as a funeral planner. But to stay in the business, he must win over the respect of a sternly traditional Taoist priest.
