CT town mourns passing of former chief of police

The Westport Police Department is mourning the passing of its former chief of police, officials said .

The town’s former Chief of Police Alfred Fiore died on Saturday morning.

Fiore was a native of Shelton, but became a longtime resident of the town of Westport, according to the town’s police department.

“Chief Fiore once spoke of how his interest in law enforcement began in his high school years, where many of his football coaches were employed as police officers. This budding intrigue in their jobs ultimately led him to pursue an education in the field.
