The U.S. government has once again revised a major policy for its national parks. After nearly tripling national-park entry fees for foreign visitors , the government has also revised its fee-free days' policy.
The government has removed Juneteenth and MLK Day as fee-free days and replaced them with dates honoring past presidents, including June 14, which is President Donald Trump’s birthday.
While Juneteenth (June 19) marks the end of slavery in the U.S., MLK Day, observed on the third Monday of January, honors the life and legacy of civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and both mark a critical chapter in U.S. history.
