THE NEWS CYCLE usually slows down around Christmas. Not this year. With so much going on it is hard for your humble scribe to select just one subject. And so, it’s time for another installment of “short notes on long subjects.”

Doug Ford could never be called a friend of the environment. His latest kick at protection of all things wild comes in a perverted plan to amalgamate Ontario’s 36 conservation authorities into seven regional ones.
