The Seattle Mariners and Washington Nationals have swapped a top prospect for a leverage reliever.

The Mariners are acquiring right-handed reliever Jose Ferrer from the Washington Nationals for catching prospect Harry Ford and right-handed pitching prospect Isaac Lyon, ESPN’s Jeff Passan reported on Saturday.

Andrew Golden of the Washington Post was first to report the news.

Ferrer, 25, recorded a 4.48 ERA with 71 strikeouts and 16 walks over 76.1 innings with the Nationals, picking up 11 saves while serving as the team’s closer after Washington dealt Kyle Finnegan to the Detroit Tigers at the 2025 trade deadline.

Ford, 22, was ranked as the Mariners’ No. 4 prospect by MLB Pipeline at the time of the trade.
