PORT ANGELES — The Port Angeles girls basketball team bounced back from a season-opening loss by winning its Olympic League opener in dominant fashion 50-15 over North Mason.
The Roughriders’ defense held North Mason to 20 percent shooting for the game (7-for-35). North Mason didn’t score more than six points in any quarter and the Bulldogs’ leading scorer had six. The Riders got up 15-2 after the first quarter and 29-7 at the half.
Meanwhile, the Riders made seven 3-pointers and shot 45 percent (10-for-22) on 2-point attempts.
Teanna Clark and Lindsay Smith led the team with 16 points each, both of them scoring more than the entire North Mason team. Smith added 10 rebounds, five steals and five assists, while Clark had seven steals.
