LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Jefferson County Public Schools' (JCPS) school board called to pause the school closure plan after community feedback. JCPS announced this on Friday, just after 3 p.m.

This relates to the plan to close, sell, and consolidate several schools.

The decision comes after three days of community input sessions and passionate feedback from parents and students.

Board Chair Dr. Corrie Shull said Superintendent Dr. Brian Yearwood has been asked to provide a more thorough justification for the proposed changes, including academic, fiscal, and logistical benefits.

The board emphasized that the pause is meant to ensure a thorough review, not to reject the need for changes.
