25 people were killed, 6 others were injured in a devastating fire at Birch by Romeo Lane , a popular nightclub in North Goa’s Arpora on Sunday, officials said. Preliminary investigations suggest that the blaze was caused by a gas cylinder blast, though several eyewitnesses claimed the fire started on the club's dance floor, where tourists were celebrating.
Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, who visited the site after the incident, informed that most of the victims were kitchen staff, along with three to four tourists. Later, the police confirmed that of the 25 fatalities, 14 were staff members, four were tourists and the identities of seven victims are yet to be established.
