A man was battling for his life in hospital today following a brutal attack in West Derby. Officers confirmed that two suspects were detained after reports of a "serious injury assault" during the early hours of this morning (Sunday). ‌

Authorities were alerted to reports of members of the public performing CPR on a man who had been involved in an altercation outside the Hare and Hounds pub. Pictures from the scene this morning reveal a forensics tent erected in the village. ‌

Emergency services responded to the incident at approximately 12.45am, discovering a 33 year old man suffering from severe head trauma. He was rushed to Aintree Hospital where medics describe his condition as critical. ‌
