Nagaon: A wave of emotion, pride, and celebration swept through Kothiatoli as the village welcomed home its newest icon, Simu Das, the blind cricketer whose phenomenal performance powered India to victory in the Blind Women's T20 World Cup held recently in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

As Simu reached her hometown, she received a rousing welcome. Rounds of applause reverberated through the streets of Kothiatoli as the community members, youth groups, and Kothiatoli Press Club organised a grand felicitation ceremony. Traditional Assamese symbols of respect were showered upon her, including xorai , jaapi , gamusa, seleng , and glowing citations.
