After Alabama lost to Georgia 28-7 in the SEC Championship Game on Saturday, there appeared to be a rising tide of sentiment that the loss should exclude it from the College Football Playoff field. It even swept up Mark Ingram.

In discussing the CFP scenarios with FOX’s “Big Noon Kickoff” panel, the Heisman Trophy winner for the Crimson Tide’s 2009 BCS national-championship team agreed Alabama did not belong in the playoff field.

“Conference championships matter, but you have to play well in the conference championships,” Ingram said . “BYU, go out and lose by 27. You’re out. Bama, you played Georgia in the SEC championship. You lose by 21. I got too much Bama in me, but you’re out.
