Abron Frye, an 11-year-old boy who was diagnosed with cancer during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, is now cancer-free and will serve as king at this year's Manning Family Children's holiday parade.
Abron, who recently enjoyed a magical trip with his family to Disney and plays football with friends, was diagnosed with cancer, a revelation that left him and his family in shock. Advertisement
"At the time, I didn't know what it really was," Abron said. "Now that I know what it was, it was very sad to hear."
Abron's diagnosis came as a surprise during the pandemic.
"It's crazy that you will want COVID," said Abraham Frye, Abron's father.
The moment he learned of his condition was overwhelming.
"When I got to the car, I just screamed," Abron said.
