Air Transat will begin shutting down its operations and suspending flights Monday as its pilots’ union plans to strike, the airline said in a statement Sunday.

The Air Line Pilots Association, which represents 750 Air Transat pilots, says it plans to go on strike Wednesday morning after its members voted last week 99 per cent in favour of a strike .

“We understand that this situation may cause uncertainty and concern,” the airline’s statement said. “Negotiations are ongoing, and our goal remains to reach an agreement so we can maintain our flights as much as possible and minimize disruptions for you.”
