Many NFL insiders remain adamant that the Pittsburgh Steelers will not fire Mike Tomlin. However, that doesn’t mean the two sides won’t go in opposite directions.
According to Adam Schefter, 2027 is an option year on Tomlin’s contract, and the Steelers must decide if they will pick up that option before the new league year begins in 2026.
“After this season, Tomlin’s contract will have two years remaining — 2026 and a team option in 2027,” Schefter writes. “But according to league sources, the Steelers must decide whether to pick up the option on Tomlin’s contract by March 1.”
Schefter continues by saying that if the Steelers don’t pick up the option, that would bring many other options into play.
