While driving through a trash-filled area in Los Angeles during a heavy rainstorm, Lisa Chiarelli noticed a lone stray Pitbull. She quickly pulled over and attempted to lure the dog into her car.

But the frightened dog bolted away.

“It was acres and acres. It was kind of on a recycling plant and there were so many places that she could hide,” Lisa shared with The Dodo .

Although her first attempt to help the dog failed, Lisa couldn’t forget the sorrowful look in the dog’s eyes. She returned repeatedly over the next three weeks, determined to help the abandoned Pitbull.
