Parts of Alberta have plenty of snow on the way over the coming days, and the forecast is looking downright chilly for some areas next week.

According to Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC), snowfall warnings are in effect for portions of northern Alberta, with heavy snow expected to fall right into Tuesday, Dec. 9, in some areas.

Forecasters note that a long period of snowfall with total amounts of 15 to 25 cm is expected, with snow beginning this morning over the Alta./B.C. border and will spread eastward this afternoon.

Snow will continue, with some possible breaks, until Tuesday. Snowfall rates of two to four centimetres per hour are possible in some areas, and travel will likely be challenging.
