KINGSTON, N.Y. — Kingston High girls basketball coach Steve Garner has witnessed a lot of close games in his New York State Hall of Fame career. But even he had to admit the chaotic final 1:13 of the Tigers’ 44-43 victory over visiting Albany High at the Kate Walton Field House was one for the books.
After sophomore forward Gianna Banks put the Tigers up 44-43 with a 3-pointer with 1:13 remaining, Albany High missed countless opportunities to regain the lead.
The visitors missed eight or nine shots from close range as the Tigers gallantly tried to close out the win with three starters on the bench after fouling out. Albany also went 0-for-4 from the foul line in the final 22.1 seconds.
