New York City’s housing authority said it would begin issuing delayed Section 8 payments to landlords on Monday after a disruption linked to the recent federal government shutdown.

Earlier this month, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development alerted public housing agencies across the country, including NYCHA, that funding for December would be delayed. The money helps landlords cover rent for tenants enrolled in the Section 8 voucher program.

On Saturday, NYCHA said it had received the necessary funds from HUD and expects landlords to begin receiving payments shortly.
