The Oregon women’s basketball team got its first taste of Big Ten Conference competition this season at No. 4 UCLA on Sunday and the result wasn’t pretty.
The Bruins outpaced the Ducks, beating them at their own game, and controlled the middle during an 80-59 win at Pauley Pavilion in Los Angeles.
Oregon (10-1) suffered its first loss of the season.
The Ducks entered this season intent on utilizing their perimeter depth by playing fast on offense and aggressively on defense.
UCLA (9-1), however, played Oregon’s game better than the Ducks, especially in the first half.
The Bruins went up 19-8 in the first quarter and then erupted for 30 points in the second quarter to build a 49-26 lead at halftime.
