FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - The Jennings Recreation Center held its 72nd annual Wassail Celebration on Sunday.
From 4 to 6 p.m., community members were invited to the center’s 1330 McCulloch Street location to enjoy a ‘unique community program filled with performances reminiscent of Wassail’s past’.
Wassailing is an ancient custom that involves toasting to good health.
“It’s something that won’t break tradition,” Jennings Recreation Center Supervisor Chanell Ridley said. “And it’s something that we look forward to incorporating our youth that we serve every day to this, into this opportunity to perform, and to showcase the things that they’ve been doing all year.“
The event also offered refreshments, including cookies and a traditional nonalcoholic Wassail punch.
