Ken Mitchell, the Democratic Party's nominee in Virginia's 6th Congressional District race in 2024, says he plans to seek his party's nomination in 2026 to unseat incumbent Republican U.S. Rep. Ben Cline.
Also seeking the Democratic nomination in the June primary are Pete Barlow, a former FEMA official who lives in Augusta County, and author and former newspaper reporter Beth Macy, who lives in Roanoke.
"I just think that the district deserves leadership better than what is being represented today," said Mitchell, who lives in Rockingham County.
The 6th District runs from Winchester to Roanoke along the Interstate 81 corridor.
