One of the things they warn you about as a parent is the “last times.”

That last bedtime story. That last school pickup. That last shoe tie.

One time, you’ll do those things you’ve done a million times before, and, without any warning, you’ll never do it again. The moments, even if you took the time to appreciate them as they happened, you’ll ache for when they’re gone. Not only because they’re never coming back, but because they disappeared with such abruptness.
