The Oct. 18 attempted rape of a Johns Hopkins University student by a non-affiliate has rattled the university’s Homewood campus in north Baltimore, which houses its undergraduate population. Three days after the incident, Baltimore Police arrested Raymond Willis Lunn, 31, on charges of assault and attempted rape. Lunn allegedly pinned the student to the ground and began removing her clothes before fleeing when he heard nearby pedestrians.
Police identified Lunn as a “registered sex offender” and “repeat violent offender who has served multiple prison sentences.” Court records trace a long pattern of leniency preceding his return to the streets: After a 2018 conviction for second-degree attempted rape, he received a 20-year sentence with 12 years suspended. He was paroled two years
