HATTIESBURG, Miss. (WDAM) - The University of Southern Miss has officially commented on the departure of head coach Charles Huff, who has been with the Golden Eagles for one season.

According to ESPN reports from Saturday, the University of Memphis was working on a deal to bring Huff in as the Tigers’ new football coach, but neither UofM, USM, nor Huff had confirmed the deal.

Director of Athletics Jeremy McClain announced Sunday that offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach Blake Anderson will step into the position temporarily as the team searches for its next leader.

Anderson will lead the Golden Eagles as they prepare for their first bowl game since 2022 against Western Kentucky.
