ATLANTA—In recent weeks, Seahawks rookie safety Nick Emmanwori has come so close to blocking a field goal.
He nearly got there again on Atlanta's first field goal of the game, and then, with the Falcons looking to get three points off a Seahawks turnover, Emmanwori used his speed and length to dive in front of Zane Gonzalez' 50-yard attempt, swatting the ball with his right hand to keep the game tied 3-3.
"That honestly feels great," Emmanwori said. "If you look on film, the past couple of weeks, I've been close to blocking a field goal in every game. So me and my special teams coach, Fitz (assistant special teams coach Devin Fitzsimmons), we've just been working on it on practice, my get-off, just trying to find the best technique I can use to win."
