SIRMIONE, Province of Brescia — As Italy prepares to host the Winter Olympics, travelers are turning their attention to Lake Garda, the country’s largest lake and a popular destination in northern Italy.
Stretching 32 miles, Lake Garda is known for its picturesque towns and historic estates along the shoreline. While Lake Como often draws headlines for its celebrity residents, Lake Garda offers its own charm and cultural appeal.
One of the most visited spots on the lake is Sirmione, located on its southern edge. The town is home to a 14th-century castle that attracts tourists year-round and serves as a starting point for boat tours.
“This is the best office. No computer. No stress,” said a local boat operator, describing life on the water. Many captains double as guides and entertainers
