LEXINGTON, KY. (WFIE) - What a weekend it was, for high school football fans in Owensboro! Both Senior High and Catholic competed for state titles in Lexington. Unfortunately, the Aces lost 33-28 to Lexington Christian, on Friday.
However, on Saturday night, Owensboro H.S. won the KHSAA class 5A state title, with an emphatic 35-7 victory, over Pulaski County.
Tailback Evan Hampton had 11 carries for 91 yards and three touchdowns. DaMarcus Ganaway, Jr. threw for 166 yards and a touchdown, caught by Chadyn Morris, and Kalil Shemwell had the other TD, on a state championship game-record, 84-yard punt return.
