A North Yorkshire woman who needed 12 units of emergency blood and lost her leg after a catastrophic accident involving a tractor has spoken out about the gift of life.
Lucie Maguire, 24, from Kirkby Malzeard, is backing an NHS appeal for more blood donations, particularly of the O negative type that helped save her life.
Ms Maguire was seriously injured in a collision involving a tractor in January 2021.

She said: "In the moments after my accident, I had no idea how bad my injuries were.
"My leg just felt uncomfortable and wet.
"I thought it was water but when the paramedics moved me, I saw a big puddle of blood.
"The ambulance crew were incredible.
