The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for rain covering parts of County Durham and Darlington.
The warning is in place on from 12am to 3pm on Tuesday (December 9) and predicts flooding and travel disruption.
There is also a slight risk of power outages and rural communities becoming isolated.

Accumulations of rain from 20-40 mm are likely over some hills, according to the forecaster, with up to 80 mm possible over high ground in Cumbria.
