Synopsis: Ernakulam Principal Sessions Court Judge Honey M Varghese, on Monday, found six people guilty in the 2017 case related to the abduction and assault of a leading female Malayalam actor. Actor Dileep, who was the eighth accused in the case, has been acquitted.

The Kerala government will file an appeal against the acquittal of actor Dileep and other accused in the 2017 actor assault case, Law Minister P. Rajeev said on Monday, 8 December.

He confirmed that the decision was taken after discussions with Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.

“The Chief Minister has suggested that we file an appeal. I have also spoken with the DGP. The prosecution achieved partial success in this case, but we will appeal to ensure complete justice,” Rajeev said.
