A man running from Nashville police seriously injured himself Dec. 6 after diving off a bridge into shallow water in Browns Creek, a news release from the Metro Nashville Police Department said.
Darryn Carter, 31, was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with leg fractures, facial fractures and a collapsed lung, police said.
Police waded into the thigh-deep water, pulled Carter from the bank and remained with him for an hour while the Nashville Fire Department set up a “hoist mechanism” to bring Carter back to the top of the bridge, MNPD said.
