LIHUE — Personnel from the Kauai Fire Department rescued an injured 23-year-old male resident from Makaha Ridge on Saturday.
According to a preliminary report, first responders received a report of an injured hunter shortly before 2 p.m.
Personnel with Waimea Fire Station, Department of Land and Natural Resources Division of Conservation and Resources Enforcement, and the Lihue Fire Station aboard Air 1 responded to the incident.
Waimea Fire Station personnel hiked down steep terrain where they discovered the hunter in the Makaha Ridge who had fallen severely ill. Firefighters administered initial first aid and determined extraction via Air 1 would be best due to the hunter’s condition.
