CHAPEL HILL — Henri Veesaar and Caleb Wilson logged double-double performances in UNC basketball’s 81-61 win against Georgetown at the Smith Center.
Veesaar had 18 points and 14 rebounds, with Wilson contributing 20 points and 14 boards in another sterling effort for the Tar Heels’ frontcourt. With the victory, No. 16/17 UNC (8-1) beat the Hoyas (6-3) for the first time in 26 years. The 20-point margin is the biggest for the Tar Heels in the series.
It was Wilson’s sixth double-double through nine games and Veesaar’s fifth. It was just the second time in the last 65 years that two Tar Heels logged at least 18 points and 14 rebounds in a game. Wilson and Veesaar joined Sean May and Marvin Williams (2004-05) in accomplishing that feat.
