HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) - It was December 8, 1985, when a massive telethon raised money for flood victims across West Virginia.

This was for communities like Parsons and Marlinton which were wiped out by high water.

All 14 television stations in the state joined together to air a 5 hour show of singers and local starts.

It culminated with a with a singing performance by John Denver who sang his hit, “Country Roads.”

The telethon raised more than half a million dollars to help the flood victims.
