The College Football Playoff selection committee leaving Notre Dame (10-2) out of the 12-team field was one of the more polarizing decisions since switching to the playoff format back in 2014.

College football fans were up in arms on social media after the Fighting Irish were snubbed from the CFP field while the Miami Hurricanes (10-2) leapfrogged them in the final standings despite being ranked two spots behind them the previous week and not playing a game in two weeks.

During an interview with Ross Dellenger of Yahoo Sports immediately after the selection show, Notre Dame athletic director Pete Bevacqua called for the CFP weekly ranking shows to be abolished, blaming them for the reason for such outrage with Miami and Notre Dame switching places in the final standings.
