MAUI COUNTY, Hawaii (Island News) -- Measles was detected in a wastewater sample from West Maui, but there are no measles cases suspected on the island.
The positive sample was collected on Nov. 30, 2025 at two sites in Central and West Maui County which the Hawaii Department of Health (DOH) is monitoring.
Measles was previously detected in Maui wastewater from samples collected on Nov. 18 in Central and West Maui. Two rounds of negative wastewater samples have also been collected in West Maui on Nov. 24 and 25 from the same treatment plant.
Three rounds of testing was completed in late November at the Central wastewater treatment site which resulted in no detections of measles.
