Meghan Markle emailed her estranged father, Thomas, after he underwent emergency leg amputation surgery last week, according to multiple reports.

Other Markle family members have said Thomas, 81, did not receive the message because he no longer uses email, according to US Weekly.

The Duchess of Sussex, 44, sent the email on Friday morning in the U.S., People magazine reported. Thomas lives in the Philippines and reportedly never received the message.

Meghan does not have Thomas’ phone number, according to People magazine. Thomas also reportedly is not in possession of his phone while he remains hospitalized.

Thomas spoke with British tabloids after the surgery, telling them he hoped to reconnect with his daughter before he dies.
