A British law student jailed for 25 years in Dubai on cocaine charges is to be freed from a hellhole prison, her delighted mum has revealed.

Mia O'Brien, 23 will spend Christmas at home after being released from the Al-Awir prison in central Dubai.

She was found with around 50g of the class A drugs, worth a street value of £2,500 in the UK.

Mem Danielle McKenna – who previously said she had been "going through a living hell" – shared on social media that Liverpool Uni student Mia had been released.

She did not say how her release was won, but she was being assisted by the Foreign Office and an appeal was said
