Cars could be fitted with new breathalyser technology which would prevent engines from being switched on if drivers have been drinking.

A new campaign is calling for the breathalysers to be added to new models, and claims the tech is "ready to go".

Known as an alcohol interlock or 'alcolock', they can detect alcohol on the breath of a driver and would prevent the engine from starting if someone was over the drink-drive limit.
