AMERICUS, Ga. ( WTVY /Gray News) - A former pageant queen was sentenced to life in prison after being convicted in 2024 of killing her boyfriend’s son.
Trinity Poague, who was 18 when she was arrested last year, was sentenced Friday.
Police said 18-month-old Jaxton Dru, also known as Romeo Angeles, was found unresponsive and later died at a hospital in January 2024.
Poague, who was a student at Georgia Southwestern State University at the time, was watching the child.
Prosecutors said Poague caused “blunt-force trauma to the head and torso,” inside a dorm room, resulting in fatal brain and organ injuries. She claimed the child fell off the bed.
