FAIRFIELD TWP, Ohio - State Troopers in Columbiana County are investigating a single-vehicle accident that sent one person to the hospital.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol says a car veered off Middletown Road, just east of Beard Road in Fairfield Township, shortly after 3 a.m. early Monday.

The car struck a mailbox and a pole before landing in a ditch.

One person was taken to a hospital in Boardman with injuries described by troopers as not life-threatening.
