What’s the best way to encapsulate what the 2025-26 girls swim season could look like?

To paraphrase Larry Bird before the 1986 NBA 3-point contest, “Who’s coming in second?”

The Barrington girls swim team blitzed the state last year, setting a state record for team points with 394 and nearly doubling up second-place North Kingstown in the process. Worse for the rest of Rhode Island – most of the Eagles who were key to the win are back and will be better than ever.

With 11 straight state titles in the rear-view mirror, coach Sandy Gorham certainly won’t let Barrington rest on its laurels and just expect to win a title by walking on the deck at the Brown University natatorium.

That may lead to a scary sight for the opposition, but it’s going to lead to some terrific swims come the stat
