Here's everything you need to know about the Sandie Peggie tribunal verdict

Who is Sandie Peggie? A nurse employed by NHS Fife with more than 30 years' experience. She worked at the Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy, one of the busiest health centres in Scotland. Peggie argued that having to share a changing room with a trans woman amounted to unlawful harassment under the Equality Act.

What started the row? In 2023, Peggie had a verbal altercation with Dr Beth Upton, a biological male who identifies as a woman, after the medic used a female staff changing room at the hospital's A&E ward.

How did NHS Fife respond? Peggie was placed on special leave in 2024 after Dr Upton made an allegation of bullying and harassment, and cited concerns about patient care.
