Dozens of community members, health care workers and hospital employees gathered Sunday night outside Zuckerberg SF General Hospital to mourn a social worker who died after a stabbing at the hospital.
The social worker has not been officially identified yet. But his colleagues and friends said his name was Alberto and that he worked at Ward 86, which is the hospital’s well-known HIV clinic.
“It’s a real tragedy that this happened at that place,” said Jason Negron-Gonzales, who is a nurse in the Emergency Department at SF General.
At the memorial, people lit candles, prayed, shed tears and embraced one another.
“I think everyone’s filled with a profound sadness,” Negron-Gonzales said.
