Hoosiers will have one final opportunity on the afternoon of Dec. 8 to tell lawmakers how they feel about a Republican effort to redraw the state's congressional maps.

In an attempt to maintain the Republican majority, President Donald Trump and his allies have encouraged conservative states to redistrict in the middle of the census cycle ahead of the midterm elections.

Indiana lawmakers have sought to redraw the state's maps to make it easier to elect nine Republican U.S representatives and eliminate the feasibility of the two Democrat-held seats. The Indiana House, the first of two chambers, approved the bill on Dec. 8.
