A large crew of volunteers in the Tweed area had a particularly busy weekend with their involvement in the 20 th annual Tweed Festival of Trees.
The event opened Friday morning and ran through Sunday afternoon in the crowded Tweed Agricultural Society Hall on the Fairgrounds. A total of 91 creatively beautiful displays, pre-decorated trees or wreaths, were up for sale bids. Also on offer were donated baked goods and other treats.
Helping to pad attendance for the Friday evening opening was the Agricultural Society annual Christmas Fair outside the building. Numerous live entertainment acts during the festival also helped draw audiences.
One spokesperson, Barb Gunning, noted that over its first 19 years the festival has raised more than $330,000. All funds are designated to suppor
