Feed Ontario’s annual hunger report shows that more and more Ontario residents are relying on food banks to survive, and in record numbers.

The 2025 Hunger Report , released on Dec. 3, shows that for the ninth year in a row, the province’s food banks have seen a record-breaking number of clients in need of support.

More than one million people make 8.7 million visits to food banks in Ontario between April 2024 and April 2025.

Of those visitors, 34 per cent were first-time food bank users, a 14-per-cent increase since 2019-2020; 29 per cent were children, a 2.9-per-cent increase over last year; and 76 per cent were rental tenants, a four-per-cent increase over last year.
