STORM LAKE, Iowa (KTIV) - Several fire departments in Northwest Iowa were sent to a building fire over the weekend.

The Storm Lake Fire Department says just before 1 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 7, they were sent to a property south of Storm Lake. When fire crews arrived at 6463 90th Avenue, they found heavy smoke coming from a large barn.

Fire departments from Early, Schaller and Alta were called in to help. MidAmerican Energy was also able to shut down power to the barn.

“Due to the recent snowfalls, a request was made to Buena Vista County Communications Center for a road grader to gain better access to where the barn was located,” stated the Storm Lake Fire Department in a press release. “Storm Lake Towing also assisted with several vehicles that had become stuck at the property.”
